The air duct cleaning was ignored for decades, but that doesn’t mean it should have been.  Although it’s rarely a cause of major problems it’s indeed an important factor in indoor air quality.  With a good look inside your ducts, you just might be surprised how contaminated indoor air can be. Design Air provides professional air duct cleaning services to all Inland Empire from Riverside to Moreno Valley, Chino, and beyond, we got you covered. Schedule your service today

Why Do It?

Over time dust, lint, pet dander, pollen, mold spores, and other contamination builds up inside an air duct system.  Much of the time it just stays there, but it can loosen and invisibly blow into any and every room of a home or business.  Given a bit of moisture from a leak or other problem and mold can grow on that buildup.  Given enough time it can build up so much that it reduces the size of the opening inside the duct and restricts the flow of air.

So the key benefit is improved indoor air quality, including a reduction of mold and other allergens.  In addition to avoiding odors, you can breathe easy knowing that the ducts are clean and no longer a potential source of problems.  If it’s been a while since the last cleaning, improved airflow means better heating and cooling with fans not having to work as hard.  Regular cleaning is important for businesses too, improving employee health and productivity.  It can also be an important part of preventive maintenance to extend the life of your air conditioning system.

When Should Ducts Be Cleaned?

When they’re dirty!  Seriously, how often cleaning is needed varies widely with location, the type of filters, and other variables.  Some may really never need cleaning while others it could be every year or two, such as in dusty areas or for those that do not maintain their systems or change their filters regularly.  Here are some indications that it’s probably time.

  • There’s been remodeling or similar work and the ducts weren’t sealed off during the work.
  • There’s been a mold outbreak.
  • You smell dusty, musty, or foul odors the first time you turn on your air conditioning or heating each season.
  • You notice your allergies are worse at the start of heating or cooling season each year.
  • You notice dust, pet hair, or other accumulation at vents and just behind them
  • You see dust or dirt build up on your vent registers

Our Services

Anything less than a proper thorough cleaning can make things worse than they were before, loosening dust so it can blow throughout the building.  So we use the latest equipment and procedures, making sure everything’s right before we finish.  We’re well prepared for any type of ductwork — metal, fiberboard, or flex, round or square — as well as just about any turns, joints, and reducers that exist.  Our typical cleaning service extends into the central air equipment itself for the best results and includes the following.

  • inspect for the level of contamination and the presence of any potential issues
  • clean registers of dust, cooking oil, and smoke films
  • scrub, vacuum, and sanitize ducts
  • re-inspect
