Some Air Conditioning Repair Problems
Modern cooling systems have complex equipment and controls for efficiency and special features. If you’re experiencing poor cooling, no cooling, or strange noises, it’s probably time for a careful diagnosis and repair.
There are a few things you can try before calling us. Check your circuit breakers or fuses, and double-check that the thermostat is set the way you think it is and the batteries are still working. Also check the air filter, a heavily clogged filter can cause some strange symptoms and can lead to major damages.
Finally, don’t forget that when an air conditioner shuts off for any reason, protection circuitry will keep it from turning back on for 5 to 15 minutes, sometimes for as long as half an hour, and some compressors can take up to a few hours to reset their internal protection device.
If these quick checks don’t do the trick, call us and we’ll send a repair technician who will provide you with expert diagnosis. Using the latest diagnostic equipment and specialized tools. They’ll take care of the problem, whatever it is: compressors, evaporator and condenser coils, air handlers, contractors (relays), capacitors, controls, thermostats, and more. We even know to check for rodent and other animal damage.
Here are a couple of examples of what you may be experiencing:
- If cold air is cycling on and off while your building remains warm, it may be a dirty or clogged condenser coils causing the compressor to overheat and shut down.
- If there’s poor cooling and ice buildup on the evaporative coil, it could be a very dirty air filter, low refrigerant, or the air blower not working. You should turn off you’re A/C until it’s repaired, as continued operation could lead to damages.
- Failed motor, capacitors, contactors, and fan motors are among the more common problems. Many experts suggest replacing capacitors and contactors every 5 years as part of maintenance. With your approval we’ll do that while we’re there to help avert another A/C outage and service call.

Summary: I had Design Air come out because my air conditioning wasn’t working. They fixed the problem
Description: I had Design Air come out because my air conditioning wasn’t working. They found the problem quickly, which was a couple wires had broke. They fixed the problem, but said since my system was old, it probably would not last much longer. About a year later my system broke again. Design Air came out and gave me a great price to replace my air and heater. They were professional and respectful. Would recommend to anyone.
